ARKAITZ MENDOZA RODRIGUEZ


Orchestra conductor and pianist born in San Sebastián. A disciple of Enrique García Asensio, Aldo Ceccato and currently George Pehlivanian, he has obtained, under the tutelage of the latter, the Master and the Superior Orchestra Conducting Program at the “Katarina Gurska” Center in Madrid.

Musical Director of the Zarzuela season at the “Victoria Eugenia” Theater in San Sebastián since 2010 in the productions of the “Sasibill” Lyric Association, debuting more than 15 Zarzuela titles to date. Musical director of the opera 4 Notes by Tom Johnson at the 80 San Sebastian Musical Fortnight, he has conducted the concert of the great jazz vocalist Gregory Porter in Tribute to Nat King Cole at the 53 San Sebastian Jazz Festival.


In opera, he has conducted Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera, La Cenerentola and Rossini’s El Barbero de Sevilla and Arrieta’s Marina, and has been assistant conductor and repertorist pianist in different productions of Opus Lírica (L´Elisir d´amore, Don Pasquale, Carmen, La Bohème, etc.).


He has recently created the Kamerata EusKdivarius orchestra and choir with which he has performed the Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins, the 1st Symphony of Johannes Brahms, the Symphony “New World” of Anton Dvorak and during the year 2020, on the occasion of the 250 anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven, he has conducted the composer’s 9 Symphonies in as many different locations and regions of Guipúzcoa.


He combines his artistic activity with teaching as a repertorist pianist teacher at Musikene and at the “Francisco Escudero” Professional Conservatory of San Sebastián.
