Nacida en Segovia, Cristina del Barrio se ha consolidado como una de las mezzosopranos más prometedoras del panorama lírico nacional. Graduada con honores en Musikene bajo la tutela de la soprano Ana María Sánchez, su talento ha sido reconocido internacionalmente destacándose en el ámbito operístico.
En 2016, Cristina se alzó como ganadora del II Concurso Lírico Internacional Teatro Besostri di Mede en Pavía, un logro que le abrió las puertas a múltiples temporadas y conciertos en Italia. A lo largo de su trayectoria, se ha formado con grandes maestros como Dale Fundling, Carmen Quintanilla, Maciej Pikulski, Renata Scotto y Carlos Aragón, lo que ha enriquecido su versatilidad y técnica vocal. Como artista polifacética, también posee formación en danza tradicional y flamenco.
A lo largo de su carrera, ha interpretado roles en importantes producciones operísticas como Fenena en Nabucco, Meg en Falstaff, Tisbe en La Cenerentola, Santuzza y Lola en Cavalleria rusticana y Mercedes en Carmen, desatancando su interpretación en el rol titular de la ópera María de Buenos Aires (2022) de Piazzolla en el Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, así como su Maddalena en Rigoletto (2023) en la Ópera de Las Palmas, dirigida por el Mº Daniel Oren. En la temporada 23-24, hizo su debut en el Teatro Campoamor de Oviedo interpretando a Frugola en Il tabarro y Zita en Gianni Schicchi, para después debutar como Amneris en Aida en el Amman Opera Festival en Jordania y Suzuki en Madama Butterfly en el Teatro Villamarta de Jerez, rol que volverá a interpretar en en el Teatro Afundación de Vigo.
En el género de la zarzuela, ha interpretado a La Beltrana de Doña Francisquita (2023) en el Teatro Villamarta de Jerez, obteniendo una gran respuesta de la crítica especializada, el rol de Paloma en El Barberillo de Lavapiés (2024, producción del Teatro de la Zarzuela) en el Teatro Municipal Manuel Segura de Lima (Perú) y la Señá Rita en La verbena de la Paloma (2024) en el Teatro Perez Galdós de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
En su intensa actividad sinfónica, ha participado en los festivales más importantes de música del país, colaborado con las orquestas más destacadas y ha trabajado bajo la dirección de prestigiosos directores como Daniel Oren, Carlos Aragón, José Miguel Pérez Sierra, Alexander Liebreich, Lorenzo Passerini, Matteo Pagliari y Óliver Díaz entre otros. Cabe destacar, su interpretación del Amor brujo de Falla en el Auditorio Nacional de Madrid y en el Teatre Liceu de Barcelona junto a la Orquesta Sinfónica Madrid Décimo Arte, su papel como solista en la Sinfonía nº2 de Mahler “Resurrección” en gira por Alicante, su participación en el Stabat Mater de Dvořák en el Teatro Arriaga de Bilbao y el Teatro Victoria Eugenia de San Sebastián y su interpretación del Stabat Mater de Pergolesi en versión semi-escénica con la compañía Teatro X-Tremo.
En el terreno de la música de cámara, en 2022 realiza una gira por la Ciudad de México, actuando en el Palacio de Bellas Artes y en el Ateneo Español de México, con el Ensemble „María de Pablos“ (voz, viola y piano).
Cristina del Barrio, mezzosopran
Born in Segovia, Cristina del Barrio has established herself as one of the most promising mezzo sopranos on the national lyric scene. In 2016, Cristina won the II Concorso Lirico Internazionale Teatro Besostri di Mede in Pavia, an achievement that opened doors to multiple seasons and concerts in Italy. Throughout her career, she has trained with great masters such as Dale Fundling, Carmen Quintanilla, Maciej Pikulski, Renata Scotto, and Carlos Aragón, which has enriched her versatility and vocal technique. As a multifaceted artist, she also has training in traditional dance and flamenco.
She has performed roles in important operatic productions such as Fenena in Nabucco, Meg in Falstaff, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Santuzza and Lola in Cavalleria rusticana, and Mercedes in Carmen, highlighting her interpretation in the title role of Piazzolla’s opera María de Buenos Aires (2022) at the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, as well as her Maddalena in Rigoletto (2023) at the Ópera de Las Palmas, conducted by Maestro Daniel Oren.
