The versatile soprano KATHARINA PERSICKE is often praised by the press for her “luminous highs and floating piani”, her “warm depth”, her “intensity in singing and playing” and her “clever interpretations performed with high musicality”, and for, to always put their voice “at the service of the idea”.
In 2022 she made her house debut at the Opera Ballet Vlaandern in Antwerp and Ghent as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte”. She returned there in the summer of 2022 to make her role debut as “Jenny” in Kurt Weill’s “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny”.
In autumn 2022 she made her debut with the WDR Symphony Orchestra and the WDR Radio Choir with Mendelssohn’s “Lobgesang”.
From 2016/17 to 19/20, Katharina Persicke was an ensemble member at the Staatstheater Darmstadt, where she sang numerous roles in the large lyrical repertoire: LIÙ in Puccini’s “Turandot“, as well as in the title role of Lincke‘s “Frau Luna“, Dvorak’s RUSALKA, the title role of JENUFA in Janaček’s opera of the same name, L’ANGE in Messiaen’s “Saint François d’Assise”, ROSALINDE in J. Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus“, FIORDILIGI in Mozart’s “Cosí fan tutte” and CONTESSA ALMAVIVA in “Le nozze di Figaro“, as MICAËLA in Bizet’s “Carmen“, MARGUERITE in Gounod’s “Faust“. As FLOWER GIRL in Wagner’s “Parsifal”, directed by Uwe Eric Laufenberg and conducted by Andris Nelsons and Semyon Bychkov, Ms. Persicke appeared at the BAYREUTHER FESTIVAL from 2016-18. Guest contracts have taken the soprano to the Staatstheater Augsburg, Theater Freiburg, as well as to the Lucerne Theater and the Semperoper Dresden; to the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater and the Theater Baden near Vienna.
In addition to the opera, Katharina Persicke is a much sought-after soloist for concerts and has performed with, among others, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg, the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Halle.
Katharina Persicke had the pleasure of working with such well-known conductors as Andris Nelsons, Semyon Bychkov, Vasily Petrenko, Trevor Pinnock, Thomas Hengelbrock, Sylvain Cambreling, Hartmut Haenchen, Rubén Dubrovsky, Steven Sloane and others.
Several solo CDs document the soprano’s chamber music work.
Katharina Persicke, winner of the Schubert Competition in Graz and the Queen Sonja Competition in Oslo, completed her singing studies at the music academies in Dresden and Freiburg i. Breisgau.
