Naroa Intxausti

Naroa Intxausti studied piano and voice at the Music Conservatory of Bilbao, completing her studies with the highest marks. Additionally she has taken Master Classes with Teresa Berganza, Isabel Rey and Dalton Baldwin.

Since her operatic debut in 2003 with Bastienne in the opera Bastien and Bastienne, Naroa has been a prizewinner in a number of international contests and sung principal roles such as Marzelline (Fidelio), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Musetta (La Boheme), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Clorinda, (La Cenerentola) and Frasquita (Carmen).

A sought-after concert soprano, she sings among others 9th Symphony (Beethoven), Messiah (Händel), Weihnachtsoratorium (Bach), Die Jahreszeiten (Haydn), Carmina Burana (Orff), Elias (Mendelssohn), Requiem (Fauré), L’Enfance du Christ (Berlioz), Oratorio de Noel (Saint Saens) or Exsultate, jubilate (Mozart).

Naroa has worked with leading conductors and stage directors such as Christophe Rousset, Michael Guettler, Michael Hofstetter, Giancarlo del Monaco, Peter Mussbach, Emilio Sagi, Balázs Kovalik or Calixto Bieito.

She was invited to sing in Theaters like OLBE – ABAO, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Berliner Philharmonie, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, Konzerthaus Berlin, Palau de la Musica Catalana or Schwetzinger Festspiele.

She has participated with the role of “Mizi” at the Premiere in Spain of the Opera Der Ferne Klang (F. Schreker), in the Teatro de la Maestranza, in a production of the Staatsoper unter den Linden, conducted by maestro Halffter.

From 2012 to 2016 Naroa was a permanent soloist at Stadttheater Gießen where she sung roles such as Galatea (Acis and Galatea), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Ännchen (Der Freischutz), Ilia (Idomeneo), Servilia (La Clemenza di Tito), Poppea (Agrippina), Berengera (Riccardo I), Zulema (La Conquista di Granata), Linda (Linda di Chamounix), Anna (La Dame blanche) and Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia).

She has recently recorded the opera Oberto with Oehms, conducted by Michael Hofstetter.

Next season she will be singing among others: Zaira (Bellini) in the main role, Macbeth (Dama), the contemporary opera Krieg (Marius Felix Lange), Die Schopfung (Haydn) and Cantos del alma (Lorenzo Palomo).
